The Boston area can lay proud claim to one of the best examples in the world of the power of COLLABORATIVE BIM. The recently completed 55,000sf Autodesk office in Waltham is full BIM, full IPD (Integrated Project Delivery) and LEED Platinum. A trifecta of achievement that would have been nearly impossible without highly integrated modeling processes among team members. John Cannistraro, Jr.
President, J.C. Cannistraro, LLC
John Cannistraro, Jr. is the President of J.C. Cannistraro, LLC and has more than twenty-five years experience in the construction industry. In its second generation of family leadership, J.C. Cannistraro, LLC has grown into one of the largest mechanical construction firms in New England, and is an industry leader in advanced 3D Modeling and BIM. Under John’s leadership, the company has established deep roots in the healthcare, commercial and institutional markets, while also emphasizing the use of new technology. The company has performed Plumbing, HVAC and Fire Protection work on high-profile projects such as Massachusetts General Hospital’s Building for the Third Century, Logan Airport, and Gillette Stadium. John holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tufts University, and is a recent graduate of the Owner/President Management Program at Harvard Business School. In 2008, John was published in Engineering News Record Magazine for his viewpoint on the state of BIM in the industry. |

Steve Jones
Senior Director of Business Development, McGraw-Hill Construction
Leading McGraw-Hill Construction’s initiatives in Building Information Modeling, Interoperability, and Integrated Project Delivery is a high priority for Stephen A. Jones. As MHC’s senior director of business development, Steve also creates alliance relationships in technology and content with major corporations. Steve speaks widely on the implications of these new technologies and processes and in 2007 co-authored MHC’s SmartMarket Report on Interoperability, which has been distributed to over 200,000 industry professionals. He also co-authored the SmartMarket Report on BIM, titled Transforming Design and Construction to Achieve Greater Industry Productivity, which was released in December 2008.
Before joining McGraw-Hill, Steve was a vice president with Primavera Systems, a leading project management software provider to the construction industry. Earlier in his career, Steve spent 19 years in a variety of design and management roles with architecture firms. Most recently he was a principal and board of directors member with Burt Hill, one of the largest architectural/engineering firms in the U.S.
Steve is on the Board of Direction of the buildingSMART Alliance, represents MHC on the Process Transformation Committee of CURT (Construction Users Roundtable), and represents MHC on the AGC (Associated General Contractors) BIM Forum.

Marc Goldman
General Manager of BIM, for Pinnacle Infotech
Marc Goldman has been a leader in the development of products and services in the AEC, CAD and BIM industry for over 20 years. He is currently the General Manager of BIM, for Pinnacle Infotech, the global leader in BIM modeling and content services. Prior to this role, Marc spearheaded and lead Autodesk’s multi-year and mulit-product interoperability initiative which is aimed at improving the exchange of information across and between the Autodesk family of CAD, BIM and Design applications. He was also on the team responsible for the definition and launch of Autodesk Seek. Prior to these recent roles at Autodesk, Marc has been developing services and products that have bridged the AEC and Manufacturing industries by improving the ways these two distinct, but interrelated industries share and exchange information. Marc studied Architecture and Civil Engineering at Tulane University in New Orleans. |

Trey Klein
Revit Architecture Quality Assurance Analyst, Autodesk
Trey Klein is an Architect and has been with Autodesk for over four years as a Revit Architecture Quality Assurance Analyst. He holds degrees in both Environmental Design and Architecture from the University of Kansas, and is LEED certified. He led the Building Advisory Team for Autodesk’s new AEC headquarters building at 1560 Trapelo, and used the IPD framework to facilitate the collaborative exchange of knowledge and information that helped make the project a success. |

Chris Leary AIA, LEED AP
Principal, KlingStubbins
A registered architect and Principal, Chris Leary AIA, LEED AP has served as a project director and project architect on many of the firm’s large-scale projects including the LEED Silver Certified MITRE Center, LEED Certified 670 Albany Street Research Building, the AstraZeneca R&D Boston Expansion, the Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research, and the Venetian Resort in Las Vegas Nevada. His particular passion is in the area of Building Performance and Sustainable Design, and he frequently presents and writes about the subject. In addition, he is a leader in KlingStubbins Sustainable Design Group. Mr. Leary joined KlingStubbins in 1992, after earning a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Syracuse University.
Most recently, Chris lead the KlingStubbins A/E team for the fit-out of the Autodesk Waltham AEC Headquarters. This project will soon be LEED Platinum Certified, was a recipient of the 2009 AIA Technology in Architecture Practice Building Information Model Award, and was executed under the fist BIM-enabled IPD agreement in New England. This project exemplified many of the A/E/C industry trends that Chris will discuss in his presentation today. |
